Community Resources

There are amazing resources and organizations in our community aimed at helping you live healthier. At the Canyon Ranch Center for Prevention and Health Promotion, we want to help connect you to these resources. The resources are split into those provided within the University of Arizona, the city of Tucson and the state of Arizona.

University of Arizona Campus

Cooking on Campus

Cooking on Campus is a series of cooking classes at the University of Arizona Rec center. The program is a collaboration between Campus Rec, Campus Health and the Student Health Advocacy Committee.  The classes cost $5 and are on Tuesdays from 5:15-6:30 pm.

Farmer’s Market UAMC

Every Friday from 10-2pm there’s a farmer’s market on the College of Medicine patio. The farmer’s market has local foods and produce from over 20 vendors.

Stretch Band Class

Every Tuesday, 11:30am, Drachman Hall A110
We normally stretch for 30—40 minutes, but feel free to join for however long your schedule permits.

Student Affairs Healthy Living

The Student Affairs Healthy Living site provides links to health and wellness resources through the University. They link to resources for both students and employees, such as health screening events and physical activity resources.

UA Life and Work Connections

UA Life & Work Connections (LWC) provides services to help the work cycles of UA employees and students. Their website has wellness related resources, such as information on health screening, nutritional counseling, recipes and more.

Greater Tucson

Diabetes Prevention & Education Center

The Diabetes Prevention & Education Center is located at the University of Arizona Medical Center-South Campus. The center hosts classes, cooking demonstrations and support groups in both English and Spanish, several times a month.

The Garden Kitchen

The Garden Kitchen, located in South Tucson, offers free cooking and gardening classes on Saturdays. They also have free events that are open to the public.

The Loop

The Loop is a pedestrian and bike path being built around the Tucson area by Pima County. Once the project is completed, it’ll consist of 131 miles with connections to Marana, Oro Valley and South Tucson. Several parts of the path are currently open to the public.

State of Arizona

ASHLine

ASHLine is a smoking cessation program through the University of Arizona College of Public Health. They offer free services in both English and Spanish. You can receive coaching to help you quit smoking either over the phone or online.
