Together for Health and Well-Being
At the Zuckerman Family Center for Prevention and Health Promotion, we focus on the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities through education, training, outreach and research.
We provide meaningful opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on experience in public health, whether through internships, volunteer roles, student employment, or applied experiences. These experiences allow students to put classroom learning into action, developing skills, compassion, and curiosity that will shape them into the next generation of health leaders.
Our center collaborates closely with departments and organizations across campus and throughout the community to make health and wellness accessible for all. With a strong focus on adolescent health and working alongside Hispanic communities, we empower people to become advocates for well-being, creating a ripple effect of health promotion that extends beyond our center.
Our History
Rooted in the vision of a healthier, more equitable future, we are proud to be part of the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, established in 2000 through the generosity and dedication of Mel and Enid Zuckerman, which are also the founders of the Canyon Ranch Wellness Resort.
In 2004, the Zuckermans deepened their commitment to community health by creating our center, previously known as the Canyon Ranch Center for Prevention and Health Promotion, within the college. As the first center established to support community wellness programs, their goal was to inspire wellness across Southern Arizona and beyond, supporting programs that empower individuals and communities to live healthier lives through better nutrition, physical activity and lifestyle-based disease prevention.
In 2020, our center was renamed the Zuckerman Family Center for Prevention and Health Promotion, honoring the significant continued support of the Zuckerman Family, whose compassion and vision continue to guide our mission today.
Together, we are building a culture of wellness and advancing health equity.
