Healthy 2B Me
Empowering youth to make healthy choices and grow strong in body and mind.
Healthy 2B Me: A Wellness Summer Program for Kids
Healthy 2B Me is a wellness summer program in Tucson for underserved youth, reaching over 600 children since 2013. The camp promotes healthy lifestyles, including nutrition, physical activity (Zumba, dance, yoga, and more), vaping/tobacco prevention, sun safety, financial literacy, personal hygiene, self-care, and kindness. Lessons are led by experts from the University of Arizona, Zuckerman Family Center interns, and members of the Tucson community.
Designed for children ages 7-11, each session focuses on a specific health and wellness theme. Each year, the program adapts to the needs of the community and has partnered with organizations such as Pascua Yaqui Boys and Girls Club, John Valenzuela Community Center, Dietz K-8, Primavera Foundation's Las Abuelitas Community Center, and U of A Campus Recreation. Session schedules depend on the community partner's needs, typically running Monday - Friday, for 4-6 hours per day.
