Public health tobacco cessation and obesity prevention interventions delivered in dental and medical settings, self-help tobacco cessation programs, tobacco cessation intervention educational programs for healthcare practitioners, tobacco and alcohol prevention programs for teens, and the use of technology to improve the delivery of behavioral lifestyle interventions.
Biography:
Dr. Gordon has 20 years of experience in conducting behavioral research, specializing in adult tobacco use cessation and adolescent tobacco use prevention. She has conceptualized study aims, been responsible for all aspects of study design and methodology, implemented study protocols, maintained oversight of data analyses, and led manuscript production. Dr. Gordon has considerable expertise in developing, implementing and testing intervention programs and products to help individuals to change health behaviors, including tobacco use, diet and physical activity. She has been the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on more than 30 NIH-funded behavioral research projects, as well as projects funded by the Department of Defense, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Arizona AHEC, and the University of Arizona. Dr. Gordon has mentored numerous students, medical students, medical residents, junior faculty and mid-career faculty. She has over 90 publications in peer-reviewed journals, other publications, and products. Dr. Gordon has made more than 160 presentations at local, national, and international scientific conferences.
